Caldwell, Idaho – Modern Driveline has launched an online package builder that lets customers build a manual transmission conversion one part at a time, then check out online or finish the build with help from the MDL team. The builder will be demonstrated at the Modern Driveline booth, 23913, at the 2026 SEMA Show, November 3–6 in Las Vegas. “Historically, with transmission packages, you would contact a company, they would offer you different pre-bundled packages, you would send in a request for a quote, and then you would wait for a person to contact you,” said Bruce Couture, owner of Modern Driveline. “At Modern Driveline we take a different approach. Our website gives you a guided, informed and even concierge-type experience.” Shoppers start by choosing a 5- or 6-speed package and entering their vehicle, such as a 1967 Ford Mustang. They then pick the transmission, such as a TREMEC T-5 or TKX, and choose whether they are converting from an automatic or a manual. The builder presents a starting package and walks through each component from the front of the driveline to the back. Pick each part, front to back: transmission, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, linkage, shifter and add-ons Skip any part you already have, or ask MDL to add one that isn’t listed Watch the running total as you build, and edit or remove parts at any time Save builds to a wish list and compare them side by side, such as a T-5 package and a TKX package Share a link to your build with your installer Call the MDL team at 208-453-9800 with questions; if you have an account, they can see your cart and recommend changes “You’re not forced to buy any component that isn’t needed,” Couture said. “If you already have a flywheel, don’t choose one.” Customers who would rather not build online can call 208-453-9800, and the MDL team will put the package together with them. Transmission packages come with an extended one-year warranty, and tech support is always included. Watch Bruce walk through the builder: How to build your transmission package (video).
