WD-40® Brand and Throtl Team Up to Revive a Ford GT

WD-40 Brand and Viral Influencer Group Throtl to Debut Vehicle at SEMA 2025

SAN DIEGO – August 29, 2025 – Trusted by trade professionals for more than 70 years, WD-40® Brand is teaming up with viral automotive content creator Throtl to reimagine a race car legend: the Ford GT. Announced today on Throtl’s YouTube channel, the project will roll out in a five-part series documenting the transformation of a wrecked 2005 Ford GT into a custom-built supercar, set to debut at WD-40 Brand’s SEMA 2025 booth.

As a nod to one of the most treasured race cars in motorsport history, the collaboration brings together two iconic brands in American automotive culture — the Ford GT and WD-40 Brand. Throtl will transform a wrecked 2005 Ford GT from a bare chassis into a race car designed to inspire the next generation of automotive enthusiasts, using WD-40 Brand solutions to tackle challenges along the way.

The Ford GT build represents the most ambitious collaboration yet between WD-40 Brand and Throtl, building on three years of partnership including product demonstrations, transforming fans' cars on Throtl’s "Dream Build" YouTube series, and bringing San Diego's automotive community together at biannual Cars and Coffee gatherings.
