LAS VEGAS -- Garware Hi-Tech Films Limited (GHFL) and Lubrizol are collaborating to advance the development and manufacturing of products based on thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) technology in India, strengthening the technology platform behind future paint protection film (PPF) and specialty-film applications. The strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) brings together Lubrizol’s TPU technology and materials-science expertise with GHFL’s engineering, film-processing and manufacturing capabilities. The collaboration is intended to support the development of high-value TPU-based products across automotive and other specialty applications, while advancing backward integration for GHFL’s premium PPF business. As part of its manufacturing strategy, GHFL is investing approximately ₹118 crore ( US$12.2 million) in advanced TPU extrusion and manufacturing capabilities in India. Nearly 25% of the investment is expected to be allocated to new product development and technology capabilities. The initiative is designed to strengthen GHFL’s manufacturing platform and support the development of future film solutions. Relevance for North American & Canadian Market For the North American automotive aftermarket, the collaboration represents a longer-term investment in the technology and manufacturing capabilities supporting future surface-protection products. Product consistency, dependable supply and continued innovation remain important considerations for distributors, dealers, installers and consumers as the market evolves.
